Catholic Roundup Digest 3- October 23

Play

Hello I’m Sean McGaughey from CatholicRoundup.com.
During this Marian month of October, there are a number of online initiatives calling Catholics to grown in their faith in Christ by increasing their devotion to Mary.
Greg and Jennifer Willits are asking Supporters of the Rosary Army apostolate to join them in a novena to St. Maximillian Kolbe ending on November 1, the Feast of All Saints.  St Maximillian had a strong devotion to Mary and was largely responsible for the modern revival of consecration to Jesus through Mary.  Greg and Jennifer  have a podcast series preparing people for Total Consecration at totalconsecration.com. The Apostolate for Family Consecration also provides a free program for family consecration based on the teachings of St Louis de Montefort, St Maximillian Kolbe, and Pope John Paul II which includes ebooks, videos and audio reflections at  Familyland.org. They invite families to join them in a 40 day preparation for family consecration  beginning on November 5 and culminating on December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

I’m going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come.  … Well actually I’m not but from November 18-21 over 20,000 young Catholics from across the United States will be gathering in Kansas City for The National Catholic Youth Conference.  Catholic Roundup favorites Popple and Bryan Murdaugh both have new CDs that they will be launching at the conference.  If like me you’ve been young for too long to be considered a youth, or you cannot make it to Kansas City, the folks at NCYC and mycatholicvoice.com have created an online Virtual Pilgrimage.  They have podcasts, videos, free music, and guides to help people prepare to make the most of their experience. They also have a video contest running until November 8.  They are asking Catholics young and old to submit videos on 1 of 3 themes– Christ Reigns, Prayer forms, and Environmental Justice.  You can begin your virtual pilgrimage at www.mycatholicvoice.com/ncyc .

For most Catholic podcasters and bloggers, creating new media is a labour of love. Beginning November 1, I would like to encourage as many people as possible to vote for Catholic podcasts over at podcastalley.com.  The way it works is that you can vote monthly for each podcast you like on Podcast Alley.  It is my hope that we can have all Catholic Podcasts in the top 20 in the religion and spirituality category and maybe can get a few in the overall top 10 on podcastalley.comThis simple effort has the potential to increase the profile of Catholic podcasts and expose them to a much larger audience.

If you want to discover links to great Catholic media or want to create your own, check us out at catholicroundup.com.

It would be wonderful if members of the online Catholic community could arrange their summer vacations in 2010 to spend a week at a Holy Family Fest at Familyland. We will try to help coordinate this.
