A Christmas Prayer from Father Michel Nault

Today my friend from seminary, Father Michel Nault, presents us with a Christmas Prayer.

Lord, during the next week or so, I will be turning my Christmas tree on and off many times. Let me try to remember what it means each time I do it. In the tree let me see my Christian character, upright and dependable; in the lights, let me see a reminder that in You is life, and the light is the light of people, and the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness will not overcome it. Let the feasting and the happiness remind me of the tidings of great joy which the shepherds heard. And, in the generosity of Christmas, let me reflect on Your generosity in giving me a constant chance of renewal even when I have blotted my copy book badly. Thank You, Lord, for the spirit of Christmas Eve, as generous tomorrow as today. And if, by some chance, I should live through a whole week in that spirit, it is even possible that the Christmas spirit can become an all round year affair!

Father Michel Nault’s Reflections for the Third Week in Advent

Third Sunday of Advent

This week we celebrate the Third
Sunday of Advent, known as
Gaudete Sunday which means
“Rejoice!” The reason we light a
pink candle the third week of
Advent is to remind us that the
joy of Christ’s birth is soon upon
us. We spend the season of
Advent “preparing” our hearts
and taking time to reflect on our
relationship with God.

Third Sunday of Advent
LIVING GOD’S WORD

This week’s act of service, there are three options
available:
1. Each family member takes the time during the week
to do one unexpected act of kindness for a stranger. For
example, help them carry heavy groceries down the
street or open a door for another person.
2. Each family member shares the gift of themselves to
the parish community by helping out with the cleaning,
decorating, or another task the parish needs completed.
3. As a family, share a discussion on ways you can bring
joy the world and choose one of those ways by living it
out in your community.

Thanks again Father Michel for your reflections on the season of advent.

November 30 Bonus Content- Father Michel Nault

November 30- Catholic New Media Advent My good friend from my seminary days (almost 20 years ago), Father Michel Nault, has graciously offered his Advent Sunday reflections to the Catholic New Media Advent Calendar Project. I am tickled to have Father Nault joining us.

This First Sunday of Advent is a time of real Hope for us as we begin to seriously prepare our hearts to receive the Baby Jesus this Christmas. We pray that we can be credible witnesses of Hope and Peace in this turbulent world and to do so we need to allow our hearts to be touched by God. Invite Jesus not only in your hearts but into your families and homes. Be open to Our Lady’s call to do what He tells you in your life. Pray together as families so that the real Joy of Jesus may reign during the Christmas Season. Only through prayer can we become what God wants us to be!!!!!
God of Hope hear our Prayers!!!!!!!!
Fr. Michel Nault

First Sunday of Advent

. Living God’sWord
For this week’s act of service, there are three choices you as a family can make:
1. As individuals take the time to speak to a member of the parish community you do not know after mass.
Consider a person who you see weekly, but never took the time to say “hello”.

2. Take the time as a family to visit a person in your community who lives alone or does not have family nearby.

3 Each family member writes a letter or email to a person they have not spoken with for a long time. For example, write a letter to a distant friend or extended family member you do not speak to regularly.

Day 30: Playful Prayerful Pretty Priestly Pictures

fathernault-christfigure.jpg

No fancy smancy podcast or links today, just a couple of pictures from the creative hands of my good friend from the seminary, Father Michel Nault. Our mutual friend Father Michael Wollbaum is in the center of the second picture. That picture reminds me of an old joke with the punch line… “I guess I should have told him where the rocks were.” Ah, seminary humour. Those were the days.
